27/07 9:13 PM] FRIEND: Morale / energy at a low this last week..things not working out work. ….need a good objective review of where my career is. [28/07 9:45 AM] Sanjay rao chaganti: Hi, was thinking of an appropriate response and then this message came through earlier today.  This was his talk at the Bihar School of Yoga which I find myself connected to... [28/07 9:46 AM] Sanjay rao chaganti: Address by His Excellency Dr A.J.P. Abdul Kalam, President of the Republic of India Namaskara, good morning to all of you, to Swami Dharmashakti, Swami Niranjanananda, Swami Satyasangananda and, of course, venerable Swami Sivananda, whom I always cherish in my memory. Friends, what can I tell you? You are in Bihar Yoga Bharati, which creates a beautiful body and mind. I admire the great founders of this organization, and so I would like to thank the Almighty for giving the people of India such a beautiful place in which they can dream, think and transform themselves in...

3 fundamental questions to ask ourselves - Tony Robbins (ala Head, Hearts and Hands)

Interesting 3 questions.....to design our lives....A variant on head, heart and hands.  Life in an Instant By Tony Robbins In all the years I've worked with people, I've found there are three key decisions we make every moment of our lives. If we make these decisions unconsciously, we end up with lives like the majority of people, who tend to be out of shape physically, exhausted emotionally and often bored with or too comfortable in their intimate relationships—not to mention financially stressed. But if you make these decisions consciously, you can literally change your life in an instant! What are the three decisions that determine the quality of your life? That determine whether you feel rich or poor in any given moment? The first one is: Decision 1: What Are You Going to Focus On? In every moment of our lives, there are millions of things we could focus on. We can focus on the things that are happening right here, right now, or on what we want t...

NAM-az-askaram!

Image
NAM az-askaram! This morning, a topic I have thought about for a while was wonderfully addressed in the one year ‘personality development through yoga’ course. The 5 times a day Namaz from Islam has so much in common with the full namaskaram of the Hindus. So, what do they have in common? a.      Basically very similar movement (leading to a healthier body if one does it regularly) b.      The ‘bhava’ (emotion) of total surrender as symbolized by the head on the floor Clearly, the roots are the same! I have often thought how Rahim and Ram sound so similar….Now Namaz and Namaskaram! WOW!

How can we help S?

Image
Earlier today I got the following message from a young person whom I like and have known now for a few years. Here is the message and my response below…. ORIGINAL MESSAGE FROM S: “It’s just that, I always seem to have a disturbed mind. As in, I’m not able to be, u know, get relief. It’s always something or other which comes and disturbs and I always go to bed with a heavy heart. And with the same frustration I tend to start my day. I tried to be positive but nothing seems to work. Any possibility on changing my negatives? MY RESPONSE Dear S, First, pat yourself on your back for even being aware of your mood. This awareness and acknowledgement does not come to many, so you should feel good about. Second, pat yourself again….for reaching out and asking for help. Most of us are too afraid to ask – As a wise person said, we have no hesitation going to a Dr when we want help with a physical problem, but we have major hesitations when we have a problem wit...

Ah, how the mind compares.....

Image
Ah, how the mind compares..... This morning in my yoga class I found myself comparing my flexibility and with others.  A few minutes ago I found this Q&A...    QUESTION: My major disease is comparison. I am suffering from enormous inferiority syndrome. How do I handle this problem? RESPONSE "Comparison is essentially sourced in non acceptance of one’s life, parents, body, capabilities or thoughts and emotions. In resisting the fact and trying to be something that you are not, you suffer from destructive emotions like anger, jealousy, hatred, frustration, which in turn leads to failure of intelligence. All problems arise with the failure of intelligence. It is acceptance that liberates you and how does one arrive at acceptance? It is not about understanding, explaining or justifying the situation but to experience the pain behind it. As you experience the unresolved emotions that are attached to the situation, all resistance dissolves and you na...

Internal Change BY Swami Satyananda Saraswati

Internal Change Swami Satyananda Saraswati People often say that even after living a spiritual life for years, they do not perceive any substantial change in themselves. Now when you say you want to change yourself, you must first ask what is it that you want to change. If you go on cutting a pair of trousers, it will turn into shorts. If there is something you do not like, if you do not want to become something, then what is it that you want to become? What should a human being be like? The nature of the mind is uniform in every age, the only difference is some people get affected by it and some don't. For example, a person may be prone to anger, he is aware of this and also that there is no cure for his anger. He gets affected by that and feels guilty. This is one state. The other is, he gets angry, and is aware that he got angry, but says it is all right. He leaves it behind the way a car leaves milestones behind. Some people are able to leave thoughts behind, but there...
