I SCREWED UP, BUT IT WAS TIME TO FACE UP….AND THEN WOW!!!!

I SCREWED UP, BUT IT WAS TIME TO FACE UP….AND THEN WOW!!!! As the year closes out, I made a list of people I had hurt (unintentionally mostly) and reached out to three specific people with unbridled apologies….and almost immediately got a BONUS!!!!!   First, just acknowledging my screw ups and then writing a letter to each of them took a load off my back. Then after much back and forth, I swallowed my ego and sent these letters. No justifications, no rationalisations…just a simple message   - “My actions caused you hurt for which I am sorry.” Within 48 hours I had heard from all three – accepting my apology and agreeing that we ought to move on. Can’t tell you how that swoosh of relief felt. AMAZING! Then, came the amazing bonus…. Out of the blue, I got this note from a friend with whom I had a painful falling out…. “ It has been years and likely we all have been better for it .   I do hope someday we can be friendly aga...

LET HIM WITHOUT SIN CAST THE FIRST STONE

LET HIM WITHOUT SIN CAST THE FIRST STONE About two thousand years ago, today's birthday boy said the above words....and this morning, what a simple yet powerful reminder....... I was driving back after a wonderful time at breakfast with friends when I saw a man alight from a public bus and throw some trash right on the street! I recoiled and the monkey mind went into overdrive.... "How dare he do that? "Would he do that if this was his home? "How irresponsible" "India has no hope" "what a shame" "These KIND of people........" "How dare they pollute the place with no regard?" AND THEN I STOPPED..... Here I was in my petrol guzzling car and using my AC,  despite Chennai having pleasant weather, complaining about another polluting the environment and being irresponsible?????!!!!! and then the words came through loud and clear..... GRATITUDE FOR THE AWARENESS! NOW THE MORE DIFFICULT PART, PR...

EMBRACING YOUR MISTAKES AND FEEL LIGHTER

EMBRACING YOUR MISTAKES AND FEEL LIGHTER As the year winds down, it’s a great opportunity to pause, reflect and re-energize for the year ahead. I came across a wonderful practice of ‘Embracing My Mistakes’ See this short 2.5 minute video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t1yIWXUjVxo I was inspired to begin a practice….Here is what I am doing: 1. I started writing down the mistakes I has made this year. I found myself going to the specific incidents that may have caused specific people some hurt. I was fairly specific. 2. I reviewed these and gave myself time to fully feel them once again. 3. I then grouped them into different clusters: a.      Mistakes not addressed as yet from my side that still cause me angst (3 stood out) b.      Mistakes either adequately addressed or that I am comfortable not addressing (7 of them) 4. Time for action – I have emailed an unconditionally apology to one, have written out a n...

This morning, a coaching client and a dear friend sent this to me and I went …….WOW! One of the most insightful personal discoveries has been to become AWARE of the baggage that I have been carrying all these years. Then gently moving and lightening this baggage ensuring that at all times, it (and I) are held with compassion and not judgment. As the awareness transforms into alignment, then the weight naturally reduces and a sense of relief at first, and then joy is felt. Sharing this experience with others across the world and supporting them in their own ‘shifts’ has been a most gratifying and beautiful journey...GRATITUDE

VOMIT VS CRAP!!!

Image
I conduct workshops across the world. Ever so often, I find that my words simply do not resonate. They simply fall flat. It was time to go within and look for answers. And one emerged….. When I simply quote ‘wisdom’ learnt from another’s experience, it’s like vomit….pretty noxious…. But when I let that wisdom flow through me, assimilate within myself and then over time flow out, then it has value…..yes, like manure, it might still stink, but it is also useful and hence resonates…
